Accessibility Statement

We want Topical Vault to be usable by as many people as possible, including students using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or who need higher-contrast text. This page is an honest account of where the site stands today — not a claim of full compliance.

What's already in place

• Every control (topic/paper/year pickers, navigation, checkboxes) is a real, native HTML element rather than a custom click-only widget, so keyboard and screen-reader navigation works without extra code.
• Left/right arrow keys move between questions.
• A light-mode toggle is available on every subject page for users who find the default dark theme harder to read.
• Text colour choices have been checked against WCAG AA contrast requirements (4.5:1 for normal text) and adjusted where they fell short.
• Exam-page images (screenshots of original Cambridge papers, case studies and mark schemes) carry descriptive alternative text — built from the question's session, paper and question number — so a screen-reader user knows what each image is, rather than hearing nothing.

Known limitations

• For subjects where the question itself is a scanned exam page, the alternative text identifies which question the image shows, but does not transcribe the full text/diagram content of the image. A screen-reader user will know what they're looking at, but not the complete content of image-only questions.
• The site has not yet been tested with a full range of assistive technology (e.g. specific screen-reader/browser combinations) beyond automated contrast and semantic-markup checks.
